Maintaining Your Wheels: Think Before You Clean

Different wheel finishes require different cleaning methods! We'll tell you how to avoid damaging your wheels and keep them looking great.

Chrome-Plated Wheels

  • This chrome-plated wheel does not have any protectants on the finish to prevent "rust" (oxidation).
  • "Rust" (oxidation) is not covered by warranty.
  • In order to prevent "rust" (oxidation) and maintain a factory “appearance,” frequent cleaning with mild soap & water and approved non-acidic & non-lye based cleaners is needed.
  • Do not clean wheels when hot

Painted/Machined Wheels

  • In order to maintain “factory appearance” on this painted/machined finish wheel, frequent cleaning is needed.
  • Only use mild soap & water when cleaning this wheel.
  • Do not clean when wheels are hot.

Polished Wheels

  • This wheel does not have any protectants on the raw aluminum face to prevent oxidation.
  • In order to maintain “factory appearance”, frequent cleaning with mild soap & water and approved polished cleaners is needed.
  • Do not clean when wheels are hot.

PVD Wheels

  • This wheel is coated with a physical vapor deposition (PVD) process.
  • This coating process has been applied to this wheel in order to prevent oxidation.
  • In order to maintain “factory appearance”, ONLY clean this wheel with mild soap & water.
  • The use of any other cleaner will void the finish warranty of this wheel.
  • Do not clean when wheels are hot.
